Jose Molina Shouldering the Load

Jose Molina, New York YankeesYankees catcher Jose Molina, seeing extra playing time thanks to Jorge Posada’s shoulder problems, has thrown out 11 consecutive would-be base-stealers.

In the second inning of last night’s 5-4 win, Molina nailed Kevin Youkilis at second to complete a strike-him-out, throw-him-out double play.

According to Newsday’s Kat O’Brien, the Red Sox timed Molina’s throw to second when he threw out Jacoby Ellsbury on Saturday. It was 1.87 seconds.

“That is just impressive. It’s like it was shot out of a cannon,” said Boston manager Terry Francona.

Molina is great defensively, to bad he doesn't carry a bigger stick at the plate.
