Around the Minors: July 4, 2008

Syracuse 8, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 5 -- Triple-A

● 1B Eric Duncan (.245) stroked his seventh homer of the season. He had two hits and three RBI.
● 2B Cody Ransom (.251) had three hits, including a home run.
● LHP Kei Igawa pitched five innings. He allowed four runs on five hits.
● RHP J.B. Cox (3-3) took the loss. He surrendered four runs - four hits, two walks - in two innings.


Trenton 6, New Hampshire 0 -- Double-A

● RF Edwar Gonzalez (.292) homered and doubled in four at bats.
● 2B Reegie Corona (.282) was 3-for-3 with a double.
● DH Austin Jackson (.273) had one hit in five at bats.
● LHP Phil Coke (7-3) pitched seven shutout innings. He allowed just two hits.
● RHP Anthony Claggett finished the contest with two perfect innings.


Sarasota 6, Tampa 0 -- Class-A Advanced

● 1B Kevin Smith (.283) went 2-for-4 with a double.
● 3B Mitch Hilligoss (.249) was 2-for-4; he doubled.
● RHP Zach McAllister (3-4) was saddled with the loss. He pitched eight innings of two-run ball.


Augusta 5, Charleston 2 -- Class A

DH Jesus Montero (.299) doubled, his only hit in four at bats.
● SS Carmen Angelini (.249) had two hits.
● RHP Dellin Betances went five innings. He allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits. He struck out six.


Staten Island 11, Mahoning Valley 9 -- Class-A Short-Season
CF Raymond Kruml (.327) had three hits in five at bats. He had two RBI.
3B Michael Lyon (.357) went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Switch-pitcher Patrick Venditte picked up his fourth save of the season. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
