Clint Preisendorfer, LHP
San Diego Christian L/L, 6-5, 235
Hometown: La Jolla, Ca.
STATUS: Signed, Reporting to Staten Island Yankees (A)
The New York Yankees selected big-bodied left hander Clint Preisendorfer with its 42nd round pick in the 2008 MLB Draft. Selected twice before by New York (32nd round – 2004; 31st round – 2005), Preisendorfer profiles as a lefty in the bullpen; something the Yankees have lacked since the Mike Stanton era, volume one.
Preisendorfer was a noted prep recruit but elected to attend North County San Diego junior college Palomar. He finished his education at San Diego Christian College.
“Clint is definitely one of the most intelligent players I have coached,” said SDCC coach Pat Horvath. “His growth over the past 2 years was remarkable, not only as a person but also as a student. His hard work and passion for the game was a valuable part of our team. I know that Clint, given this opportunity, will succeed while representing SDCC and himself well.”
Preisendorfer throws both a two- and four-seam fastball, a circle change, and a slurve. He changes speeds well and manipulates his breaking ball offering-to-offering. He throws it harder with a horizontal, slider-esque break or can slow it down for a more vertical, curveball trajectory.
