Around the Minors: June 29, 2008

Here is tonight’s minor league roundup:

Buffalo 7, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 5 -- Triple-A
OF Brett Gardner was 0-for-4 but walked and stole two bases. He has 34 steals on the year.
● 2B Bernie Castro was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBI.
● SS Cody Ransom was 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBI.
RHP Alan Horne only lasted 2/3 of an inning. He surrendered one hit, walked three and yielded two runs.

Trenton 8, Portland 2 -- Double-A
● The suddenly red-hot Jose Tabata was 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI.
● LF Edwar Gonzalez was also 2-for-5 with a home run. Gonzalez also doubled.
● OF Austin Jackson had one hit in five at bats.
● LHP Phil Coke went six innings, scattered seven hits.
● RHP Steven Jackson pitched three innings for the save. Jackson struck out three.

Tampa 7, Palm Beach 1 -- Class A Advanced
● 3B Mitch Hilligoss went 1-for-2 with three walks. Hilligoss stole two bases.
● 1B Kevin Smith had three hits in four at bats. He drove in three runs.
● RHP Zack McAllister went 6 2/3 innings. He scattered 7 hits and allowed one run.

Charleston 3, Savannah 2 -- Class A
● SS Carmen Aneglini was a perfect 4-for-4. He ripped his 10th double of the year.
● OF Abraham Almonte had three hits (two doubles) in five at bats.
● 3B Bradley Suttle tripled.

Staten Island-Aberdeen was suspended in the second inning due to rain.
